All about Alonda and the key features of the app

Alonda focuses on maintaining contact with loved ones during an emergency, providing personal safety, and support.

Alonda is Malawi's only safety app, allowing you and your loved ones to stay connected and request help in an emergency by activating alerts that allow user-defined responders to track the user's location and provide the necessary assistance.

Downloading Alonda

1. Download the app from your app store or by visiting [link] from your Android device or [link] from your iphone.

What is Alonda and how does it work?

We started Alonda because we believe passionately in our mission to protect vulnerable groups, to not feel alone in an emergency. Once the alonda app has been downloaded for free on your mobile phone, alonda keeps you safe in three ways:

1. Shares your location with trusted loved ones.
2. Alerts your emergency contacts in a situation that you require help.

How location sharing works

By sharing your location with trusted people, like a life partner, a parent, a colleague, or a close friend, you can keep each other safe. Important: Never share your location with someone you don't trust with your life!
It's super simple to get started:

1. Open Alonda and go to Location Sharing by tapping on the location pin icon at the bottom.
2. Open the contacts drawer and tap "Add Contact".
3. Select the contact from your address book and tap "Done".

And that's it. You're now sharing your location with that person! Make sure they register on alonda. Then help them share location back from their phone by going to Location Sharing and tapping on your name in their list of contacts.

Get Help Fast; Alerts

We hope that location sharing, and Communities will help you stay safe. But sometimes bad things happen and then we need the right help, fast.
Requesting help through Alonda is very simple:

1. Open Alonda
2. Tap the corresponding emergency on the App.
3. An alert will be immediately sent to the user defined emergency contacts.
4. Where applicable you will be connected to private security or medical personnel.
